History

Born and bred in San Diego, California, USA Fed is a non-profit, international credit union with over 61,000 members worldwide and over $700 million in assets — a member-owned financial cooperative with branches in California, Japan and Korea.

USA Federal Credit Union began in November 1953 with ten members as N.T.C. San Diego Employees Federal Credit Union. The employee organized federal credit union was initially formed to serve the civilian employees of the Naval Training Center (N.T.C.). In 1955, all military personnel working at N.T.C. were added to our field of membership. As the credit union grew, our field of membership expanded internationally allowing for USA Federal's presence in the Pacific Rim.

In 2008, we shortened our name to USA Fed. We feel it reflects our personality and shows that membership is easy and anyone can join. Being more of a friend that our members can trust and delivering truly personal service is what we're about. It's about overall value - not just rates, fees and pricing - that makes us 180° from banking.
